PLOS is a non-profit organization on a mission to drive open science forward with measurable, meaningful change in research publishing, policy, and practice.

Building on a strong legacy of pioneering innovation, PLOS continues to be a catalyst, reimagining models to meet open science principles, removing barriers and promoting inclusion in knowledge creation and sharing, and publishing research outputs that enable everyone to learn from, reuse and build upon scientific knowledge.

We believe in a better future where science is open to all, for all.

Enhance visibility and increase your article downloads

Promoting your research can boost its visibility, and helps introduce it to others. But being able to tell your story in different ways can reach a wider audience of researchers, funders, policymakers, and the general public who can discover and realize the potential of your work.

To help you achieve this, we have partnered with Kudos, a platform dedicated to driving research performance through effective communication. As a PLOS author, you can join over 450,000 researchers who already use Kudos when you add your article to the PLOS Showcase.

What is Kudos?

Kudos is a platform created to help the global research community showcase their ideas and discoveries to diverse and influential audiences in academia, government, industry, education, and the media. They are dedicated to bridging the critical gap between research producers and users and by so doing, help more people find, understand, and benefit from research.

How do I join Kudos?
Setting yourself up on Kudos is easy. You can register for your free researcher account here which allows you to claim your publications using the DOI, keywords or other search terms such as your name. Kudos will automatically draw together your information on a personalised page and add it to the  PLOS Showcase.
How do I describe my research?
With Kudos you can add a brief description about your research that helps non-scientific audiences discover and understand it. This should be a simple explanation of what your research is about and why it’s important. This will help the widest group of people to understand your findings. If you like, you can add other associated content such as blog posts, images, videos, data sets and press releases.
What are my options for promoting my research?
Kudos provide links to your research that you can use in your own network to share your research. You’ll find other useful ideas about how to promote your work in our Guide to Author Promotion.
How do I know if it works?
Kudos provides you with a dashboard of metrics that help you see a summary of views, downloads, citations and altmetrics.
