When you choose to publish with PLOS, your research makes an impact. Make your work accessible to all, without restrictions, and accelerate scientific discovery with options like preprints and published peer review that make your work more Open.

Different approaches, one goal: universal Open Access

Open Access is not truly open without easy and equitable opportunities to publish. To support authors of all research communities, funding backgrounds, and institutional requirements, all PLOS journals offer APC-alternative business models through institutional partnerships.

Our solutions to eliminate APCs

We understand the challenges that researchers experience in the publication process. That’s why all PLOS journals provide authors unlimited, fee-free publishing, through institutional partnerships.

What is an institutional partnership?
Instead of authors paying individual article fees, we partner with institutions to remove the burden of fees from the researcher. The good news is that your institution may already be partnering with us.

Publish your research

If you’d like to publish your research in a PLOS journal, check to see if your Open Access publication fees are already covered.

Open Access fees not covered?

If you can’t see your institution listed, let us know and we’ll discuss options with your librarian.

Your options with PLOS

Dependent on the journal(s) selected, we have different business models for your institution to choose from. All models make it easy to eliminate publication fees leaving you to focus on the importance of your research and which journal to publish in.
